Business Plan Coach
As a business plan coach, volunteers provide mentorship and guidance to students who are preparing their business plans for competition. Drawing upon their own business or entrepreneurial background, coaches help students conceptualize successful ideas and transform them into viable businesses.
Business plan coaches will be matched up with a classroom and will be asked to work with students over 3-5 sessions.
Business Plan Judge:
Serving as a business plan judge, volunteers have the opportunity to observe and evaluate the culminating product of every TKYI program. During the business plan competition, students compete for "seed capital" by presenting their business plans to a panel of judges. Judges observe and question the participants and then rate each on a scale from 1-10 in various categories. Business Plan Judges are needed for our community and classroom competitions.
Guest Speaker:
In the classroom, volunteers can present a lesson within their area of expertise or an area of special interest to add greater depth to the curriculum. Guest speaker topics can include goal setting, organization/time management, business etiquette, marketing/advertising, investing/banking, business plans, sales, customer service, technology, communication skills, etc.
Beyond discussion of the curriculum, guest speakers can also choose to share their personal story of getting started in business and illuminate the path they took for the student audience. Potential points of discussion include tackling any adversity in getting started in business, overcoming obstacles in life, and how you chose your area of business.

This 4-hour workshop's focus is to help youth identify their talents and interests and spark the entrepreneurial spirit within.
- Each summer we partner with local businesses and organizations to bring six weeks of business training and planning to a select group of teenpreneurers. For six weeks, students receive instruction and assistance in developing a business plan. The program culminates with our annual Business Plan Competition where the students compete for cash prizes.
